Mental Health
We collaborate with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to integrate mental health services into primary care settings, ensuring accessibility for underserved populations. This includes training clinicians and community health workers (CHWs) to identify, refer, and treat common mental health conditions. We work closely with traditional and religious healers to reduce stigma and improve mental health awareness. This innovative partnership has led to better detection and referral systems for mental health conditions. Our mental health clinics at JJ Dossen Hospital and Pleebo Health Center provide specialized care, including psychoeducation, crisis management, and comprehensive treatment. We have incorporated approaches such as psychosocial rehabilitation groups, substance use sessions, and other programs to reintegrate patients into communities.
Non-Communicable Diseases and Injuries (NCDIs)
PIH Liberia supports the design and implementation of innovative clinical guidelines for managing NCDIs, such as diabetes and cancer. This includes updating protocols and improving data collection systems. collaborates with the MoH to develop scalable models for comprehensive NCDI care, integrating services into existing health programs funded by global initiatives. We provide training to healthcare providers and CHWs to manage NCDIs effectively, ensuring sustainable care delivery.
